V(辞書形)+ばかりだ / 一方だContinue to (tendency toward a direction)
Attached to the dictionary form of verbs expressing change (e.g., increase, decrease, worsen). Both indicate a continuous trend in one direction. 'Bakari da' is predominantly used for negative trends, while 'Ippo da' is neutral and used for both positive and negative changes.
Common mistakes
- Confusing with 'V-ta bakari' (just finished doing)
- Confusing 'Ippo da' (trend) with 'Ippo de' (on the other hand)
- Using state verbs instead of change-action verbs
