Around half the length of a full paper, so you can fit one into a single sitting. Vocabulary, grammar and reading only - no listening section.
What the N2 paper looks like
N2 keeps the three-section structure introduced at N3, each scored out of 60 with a 19-point minimum. The pass mark is 90 of 180 and December 2024 passed 35.8%. The pass mark being lower than N3's 95 reflects how each level's scale is calibrated, not an easier paper.
The mistake that fails people who knew the material
Reading is where most N2 candidates lose marks, because the passages get longer while the time allowance does not scale with them. The other common loss is grammar questions that hinge on nuance between near-identical patterns, which recognition alone does not solve.
How to use these papers
Run these papers with a clock and record where you were when time ran out. If you are consistently leaving reading questions unanswered, that is a pacing problem rather than a knowledge problem and it needs different practice.
A mock paper is only worth the time if you sit it the way you would sit the real thing: one go, clock running, no dictionary. Scoring well on a paper you paused halfway through tells you nothing useful about whether you are ready.
