Possessive / modifier
Category: Particles
The grammar pattern "の" is used to connect two nouns, showing possession, affiliation, material, or category. It can also be used as a nominalizer to turn verbs or clauses into noun phrases. The possessive "の" is used to indicate that something belongs to someone or something, while the nominalizer "の" is used to indicate the subject or object of a verb. For example, "私の本" means "my book" and "読むのが好き" means "reading is my favorite thing to do".

For example, "私の本" is correct, but "私のが本" is incorrect.
For example, "読むのが好き" is correct, but "読むの好き" is incorrect.
For example, "映画を見るのが好きです。" is correct, but "映画を見るの好きです。" is incorrect.
