What this sample actually does

You get ten questions drawn from the same pool the full practice engine uses, mixing vocabulary and grammar. Each question gives you four options and tells you immediately whether you were right, along with the reading and meaning of the correct answer. Nothing is saved and no account is needed. The point is to show you the question format and the feedback loop before you decide whether to sign up.

Why wrong answers matter more than right ones

Most JLPT apps record whether you got a question right. This one records which wrong option you picked. That distinction is the whole product. If you repeatedly choose 図書館 when the answer is 学校, that is a specific confusion between two specific words, and it is fixable in a way that a general accuracy percentage is not. With an account, those pairs get logged and fed back to you as targeted drills instead of more random review.

How the full version differs

The sample is a fixed ten questions. The real engine tracks every word you have seen across six mastery states, promotes a word once you clear it twice in a row, and demotes it the moment you miss it again. Sessions are then built from that state: mostly words you are weak on, a few you have mastered to check they have stuck, and any confusion pairs you have accumulated. That is why it gets more useful the longer you use it, and why a one-off sample can only show you the surface.

Which level to try

N5 is the starting point if you are new to the JLPT or unsure. If you already know where you sit, switch levels from the practice screen. If you are genuinely not sure, the placement test is a better first stop than guessing: it runs twenty questions spanning N5 through N1 and tells you where to start.
